World Geography Blog Train

Little late finding out about the train, but it is still going until the end of August.  Go check out the DigiScrap Parade on World Geography by clicking HERE.  I love blog trains for many reasons.  One is that you get a cool kit at the end.  Another is that you get to see so many different scrap designers.  Many times I have found a favorite designer thru a blog train.

With this train, I like the fact that so many of them use dropbox for their parts.  I have had so many issues with MediaFire.  It was nice to see them switch to something that I use myself and never had an issue with in all the years I have used it.

Check out the blog train, get the cool kit and enjoy the many designers!

Weekend Contest from Scrapaneers

Howdy!  It’s been fun getting back into the swing of scrapping online.  Bought some cool kits and this morning I woke up to a contest from Scrapaneers!  With two kids and Florida’s tax free weekend for school supplies… I may not have enough time to do this.  I’m certainly going to give it a shot.  Well worth giving it an effort to win a year’s worth of classes.  I believe I can never quit learning.

The link is above but in case you didn’t realize it… CLICK HERE to get to Scrapaneers contest.

Time is a wasting

Months have gone by and nothing was posted.  Why?  Because I was in a slump.  I didn’t like anything I was scrapping.  Why show you stuff I wasn’t happy with and keep it out here for the world to see.  Exactly.  You don’t do that.  Now I’m jumping back on board and ready to learn and go forward.  I just bought over $40 worth of kits and getting ready to start using them!  After that purchase, my sister, Tink, and I were talking about all our kits.  You forget what you have after a while.  I have my folders named after the designer and then the name of the kit.  For example: SilviaRomeo_ABoysLife

Yet, when I started to do the boy scout pages for my boys, I couldn’t remember which kits were for boy scouts.  Then an idea hit me.  I created a folder called BoyScouts.  Then put a shortcut link to each of the kits I considered boy scout kits.  Next I did it for Beach kits.  Then for Camping kits.  Good part… is if I buy another kit or while searching around find another kit that is Beach… I just hope over to the Beach and make a short cut to it.  Enjoy and Keep on Scrapping.

Another post before the end of February

February is almost gone.  I was so busy with the scout scrapbook and all the activities my boys have been involved in… I forgot to write some posts on scrapping.  This is why I don’t join to many scrapbook activities online.  I seldom have enough time right now.  It comes and goes.  Some months are much easier to find time for scrapping… right now… not so much.

I have another coupon for Shutterfly, so I will be doing another scrapbook.  I saw an email from Cassel Creations on creating alphas.  If you did not get the email, here is the excerpt from it and the link…

Do you like to create alpha for your digital projects or to give away on your blog or even to sell?
Come and join us for the FREE live presentation, next Sunday.

We’ll look at different processes to create alphas, and you’ll be able to pick whatever technique suits you the best.

There is still time to REGISTER (if you haven’t yet).

I have enjoyed a lot of Cassel’s classes.  Well worth giving it a shot if you haven’t taken one of her classes before.  Hope to see you there!

Busy doesn’t explain it

Amazing how time flies by when you are packed with stuff to do and get crazy busy.  I have created and finished a 20 page scrapbook for my Den.  I am into page 14 of my spring break scrapbook and all the other stuff happening in my life keeps me hopping around like a crazy person.  All that work and I didn’t post one thing here because I forgot.  D’oh.

About that quick book for my den… I have been a den leader for 5 years.  The core set of boys have been with me for that long.  I wanted to do something nice for them.  No more than $10 a piece.  And I was blessed with a phone call that helped me fulfill that.  I use to be on the yearbook volunteer staff at the elementary school.  At one point I called Shutterfly and asked them about costs for them doing the yearbook.  Hence I got on their call list.  Never did anything with them at that point.  But a couple of weeks ago, I got a call from the Shutterfly yearbook staff.  I asked them to take me off the list.  I no longer was a yearbook volunteer.  They asked if I worked with any organizations and I said yes.  They offered to do 10 or more 8×8 softbound books for $10, no shipping and no handling.

What?  What?  I was thrilled.  I had 8 boys in my den plus that would give me an two extra in case I wanted to do something a little more. I took up the offer. The problem.  It takes them longer to do the processing for yearbooks.  I needed to get the books done QUICKLY to have time to get to me before our final February meeting.  Yep, this is the last month I am the den leader.  After this, they are Boy Scouts in a troop.

I had a little mishap with the whole how do you place the order thing, but Shutterfly pulled through and got me all of my books on time.  YES!  Soon, my boys will be signing each other’s “yearbooks” and have  something to last a lifetime. My tip to you… if you are part of an organization that has 10 or more people you would like to give a gift… consider calling Shutterfly and talk to their yearbook staff.  Well worth it.  Life is good.

Worked hard and got it done on time

I had the opportunity to get 10 softbound shutterfly books made for my cub scout den.  Same book, printed 10 times.  And CHEAP.  If you are a member of an organization and want a bunch of the same book printed… get in touch with the yearbook department at shutterfly.  Well worth it.

I didn’t clean, barely cooked, my kids had run of the house… but I did it.  Phew.  Now some humor to make it worth while:

Nine Important Facts to Remember as You Grow Older:

Number 9  –  Death is the number 1 killer in the world.

Number 8  –  Life is sexually transmitted.

Number 7  –  Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.

Number 6  –  Men have two emotions: hungry and horny, and they can’t tell them apart.   If you see a gleam in his eyes, make him a sandwich, you have a 50% chance of being right…

Number 5  –  Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day.  Teach a person to use the Internet and they won’t bother you for weeks, months, maybe years.

Number 4  –  Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in the hospital, dying of nothing.

Number 3  –  All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

Number 2  –  In the 60’s, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird, and people take Prozac to make it normal.

Number 1  –  Life is like a jar of peppers.  What you do today might burn your asstomorrow.

…and as someone recently said to me:

Don’t worry about old age; it doesn’t last that long.

Just getting started is hard

I just got started on a book for my cub scout den.  Twenty pages to do. I have one week.  I have spent a few days pestering everyone to send me pictures of their scout.  I have been drawing different layouts for the pages.  Deciding how to put them in a particular order.  Now it is time to get started on the scrapping.  I am hoping that with everything in front of me that I can just keep going and have it done by Sunday afternoon.  Wish me luck.

Have you taken any pictures?

Pamibe mentions in the comments that she didn’t take any pictures Christmas day.   That doesn’t mean she has nothing to scrap.  If she has pictures before Christmas or after of the tree or other things around the house, you can use those pictures.  Then for the actually day, just write about what happened.  No picture of the day necessary.  I have done this once or twice where I didn’t take pictures of the actual event.  Luckily I could use pictures I had taken the day before and just write about what happened that day.  I have found it wonderful to go back and read what I wrote.  It brings back the memories much more vividly than if I just tried to remember it on my own.

Happy 2015!

It is amazing how quickly time passes.  I”‘m happy it is 2015.  Wonder if I’ll have trouble getting my checks right for a while like the last few years.  I bought a special on Groupon for Shutterfly over the Christmas holiday break.  You will see me putting pages out here so I can make that book… and soon.  Still it was nice taking a break from everything for a couple of weeks.  Now back to the same ol’ routine.  No, I don’t make resolutions for the new year.  I just keep trying to do what I did last year.  Eat better, exercise more, get my scrapbook pages done, make sure I help my kids grow to decent adults, and so on…

There are a ton of great deals going on in the digital scrapbooking sphere.  GoDigitalScrapbooking has THIS DEAL (CLICK HERE).  You have to go back every day for 7 days to get all the pieces.

GottaPixel has a template special CLICK HERE to see it.

Wilma4Ever is thinking ahead and has specials for Valentines (which is right around the corner!) so CLICK HERE to see those.

Actually there are so many out there, I can’t list them all.  Please let me know if you see any good deals!

Merry Christmas to All

There will be little to no posting this week.  I am working.  Once I’m done working, I’m playing with the kids.  There are so many blog trains out there and if I have time, I’ll link to them for you.  Right now… I’m out the door so I can get home as soon as possible!
