Busy doesn’t explain it

Posted by on February 8, 2015

Amazing how time flies by when you are packed with stuff to do and get crazy busy.  I have created and finished a 20 page scrapbook for my Den.  I am into page 14 of my spring break scrapbook and all the other stuff happening in my life keeps me hopping around like a crazy person.  All that work and I didn’t post one thing here because I forgot.  D’oh.

About that quick book for my den… I have been a den leader for 5 years.  The core set of boys have been with me for that long.  I wanted to do something nice for them.  No more than $10 a piece.  And I was blessed with a phone call that helped me fulfill that.  I use to be on the yearbook volunteer staff at the elementary school.  At one point I called Shutterfly and asked them about costs for them doing the yearbook.  Hence I got on their call list.  Never did anything with them at that point.  But a couple of weeks ago, I got a call from the Shutterfly yearbook staff.  I asked them to take me off the list.  I no longer was a yearbook volunteer.  They asked if I worked with any organizations and I said yes.  They offered to do 10 or more 8×8 softbound books for $10, no shipping and no handling.

What?  What?  I was thrilled.  I had 8 boys in my den plus that would give me an two extra in case I wanted to do something a little more. I took up the offer. The problem.  It takes them longer to do the processing for yearbooks.  I needed to get the books done QUICKLY to have time to get to me before our final February meeting.  Yep, this is the last month I am the den leader.  After this, they are Boy Scouts in a troop.

I had a little mishap with the whole how do you place the order thing, but Shutterfly pulled through and got me all of my books on time.  YES!  Soon, my boys will be signing each other’s “yearbooks” and have  something to last a lifetime. My tip to you… if you are part of an organization that has 10 or more people you would like to give a gift… consider calling Shutterfly and talk to their yearbook staff.  Well worth it.  Life is good.
